CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PROMOTION MATT!

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PROMOTION MATT!

Congratulations on your promotion! What are you most excited about in your new role?

Thank you! I love to work on strategy and bigger picture projects so I’m really excited to dedicate my time to these. Also, driving forward our digital department to ensure we continue to offer the most effective service possible for our clients.

How did you progress at F&T?

I started at F&T as a Digital Marketing Executive until moving into the Digital Marketing Manager role, around a year and a half later after joining. Now I have been promoted to the Head of … role.

I originally joined the business as it was made very clear that they have big plans and they were looking for people with the same ambition. I constantly tried to add value over and above my role, refining processes, helping with introduction of new services and finding ways to improve these.

I was trusted and supported to make the most of my strengths and the senior management team do a fantastic job of recognising people’s contributions and potential.

What kind of values or behaviour would you say is important to progress here?

We have our core values of Care, Honest, Listen and Deliver, but I think on top of that we have Drive, Vision, Passion and Enthusiasm. Demonstrating joined up thinking that includes a focus on our clients, the business and our people with an equal commitment to each is paramount.

What is special about working for F&T? What stands out for you?

However cliché it may sound, it’s the people and culture. The owners Ali and Andrew have done a fantastic job of building an environment where people feel truly valued. We work hard and play hard but the underlying value of caring about our clients and our people above everything else is the big stand out for me.

Who do you look up to in the company?

I am fortunate that I work with a team that has a LOT of people I look up to and respect greatly, who support and value me in equal measure. If I had to pick one person within the company, I’d say our MD, Nat. She’s a tireless professional, a well balanced and supportive manager who is extremely proactive and forward thinking…excuse the pun.

What advice would you give to somebody eager to progress in their career?

Don’t settle for just ‘doing your job’. Go over and above and always showcase your untapped potential. Don’t fall into the trap of focusing on how hard you work or how many hours you put in. Instead, focus on the amount of value you are creating, what you are putting out in real terms, the contributions and support you provide your teams and be confident enough to express your contributions and achievements.

Aim to be someone who is not easy to replace!
